A replacement post…
Before I start I’d better make it clear that it is actually Peter’s daughter, Alice, posting here. I apologise profusely to those of you who have been refreshing this page for the past week or so, confused and impatient, waiting eagerly for the gems usually posted by my wise father, but I’m afraid you may have to wait a little bit longer. Dad is currently very busy boring the nurses in Stoke on Trent hospital with the same kind of story, I imagine, that he normally bores you with on this site! I am joking of course, about the boring bit, not about the hospital bit.
He arrived home a week or so ago looking a little worse for wear, wheezing, croaking, shuffling and generally feeling rather sorry for himself. I noticed after a while that at closer inspection he certainly looked a little peaky, to say the least. I immediately adopted the role of fussy daughter and summoned the nearest doctor who confirmed that he had pneumonia AND some sort of lung problem. (Before you ask, yes, that is the professional medical term). And so he was whisked away to Shrewsbury hospital where he was utterly spoiled by a wonderful team there and has been moved today to Stoke on Trent where he will no doubt make lots more friends and probably won’t particularly want to leave when it’s time.
Nevertheless, if there is one thing that will have him crawling back to his desk it will be this, his beloved blog, which I have most likely now defaced by failing to produce something of the usual calibre. He will also be very much looking forward to catching up with the episodes of X Factor he has missed but I might not be allowed to mention that.
It may be a good idea for me to log off before I do any more damage. I feel I should offer some musings on life or current affairs but aside from you not actually being interested in what Peter’s 20 year old daughter has to say, it would be futile. My opinions, I fear, are either exact copies of those of my father, or vehemently opposing. Thus rendered useless here!
Dad’ll be back shortly. Hang in there.
